Key Facts:

• Exceeded 99% compliance across operations in air and water since 1997
  • Edmundston: 98.85% compliant (3487 tests in 2009)
  • Madawaska: 100% compliant (1490 tests in 2009)   

• Operating well below regulatory air and water limits

• Implemented strategy to minimize carbon footprint and reduce greenhouse gas emissions
  
  • 76% GHG reduction at Madawaska and Edmundston since 2006

• Diverted solid residue from landfills to be used for local composting, land amendment and energy production
  • 65,000 tons used for beneficial reuse (2010)
  • 6,200 tons burned for energy production (2010)
