Pulp and Paper Green Transformation Program

Pulp and Paper Green Transformation Program

Twin Rivers participates in the Pulp and Paper Green Transformation Program (PPGTP), a government sponsored initiative that provides Canadian pulp mills with one-time access to $1 billion in funding for capital investments to make environmental improvements. Twin Rivers earned an allocation of CAD$23 million in credits, and is aggressively working on an extensive project list that will reduce landfill waste, emissions to atmosphere, improve energy efficiency, increase production of renewable energy and reduce water usage at its Edmundston, New Brunswick pulp mill.

Proposed projects are submitted to the PPGTP administrator, Natural Resources Canada, for approval. All projects must be complete by March 31, 2012.  Several key Edmundston projects have been approved and are currently being accomplished representing an investment of over $6 million in environmental and energy performance.
