Twin Rivers Paper Company Targets QSR and Food Service Applications

South Portland, ME May 12, 2011 Twin Rivers Paper Company has expanded its line of specialty packaging papers to better meet the needs of quick serve restaurants (QSRs) and the food service industry, including package functionality, sustainability requirements and brand differentiation.

“Consumers are demanding more convenience, options and value, driving fast-food restaurants and food service suppliers to innovate to stay competitive,” said Jim Fagan, Packaging Product Segment Manager at Twin Rivers. “Our machine flexibility, expertise in barrier chemistry and coating processes, and bias toward co-development allow us to work with customers to create tailored paper solutions for their packaging applications.”

Engineered for applications involving exposure to grease, heat and moisture, Twin Rivers’ packaging papers are used for bags, pouches, wraps and liners in food service applications and interleavers and liners in food processing applications. The two primary packaging brands, Acadia® and Bladepak®, are available in a range of grease resistance, options in wet strength content, light to heavy basis weights, and choices in recycled and fiber certification.

Fagan added, “We bring the most value when a packaging converter, fast food chain or food service operation approaches us at the beginning of a project. By understanding their challenges up front, we can engage our development team and technical resources to solve the problem and drive category innovation.”

To underscore the company’s commitment to the QSR market and food service industry, Twin Rivers produced a segment-specific brochure that outlines its product offering, manufacturing capabilities and overall delivered value.

Acadia, an uncoated machine finished paper, is available in a basis weight range of 15-75 lbs. and Bladepak C1S coated paper is available in a basis weight range of 35-73 lbs. Both brands are known for excellent printability, and convertibility performing well in secondary processes such as coating, waxing, foil and film laminating, and metallizing. All Twin Rivers packaging papers are FDA compliant and meet all GMP requirements for direct food contact applications.
